About The Reseller Index

The Reseller Index tracks the numbers that decide what online resellers keep: platform fees, postage, selling rules and tax reporting. Our promise is three words: know your net.

Who it's for

People in the US who sell secondhand goods online, part-time or full-time: thrift and estate-sale finds, books and media, clothing, collectibles. Most of our readers sell on more than one platform and want to know, in dollars, what a change does to a $10, $25 or $50 sale.

What we publish

How it's made

We use AI to help with the research and the first drafts: checking official pages, logging changes and doing the arithmetic. A full-time reseller checks and edits everything before it's published, and adds what only someone who ships packages every day knows. We say so on every page and in every email.

Our sources are the platforms' and carriers' own public pages: USPS Notice 123 and the USPS newsroom, each marketplace's fee and help pages, and IRS.gov. Every number shows the date we checked it. Calculators and tracker effects come from the same tested code, so the numbers agree everywhere on the site.

Standards

Corrections

If we get a number wrong, we fix it and log the fix publicly on the corrections page, with the date. Spot something? Tell us there.

Who's behind it

The Reseller Index is edited by a full-time reseller who sells books, media and secondhand goods online and pays these fees every day.
